Welcome to the official blog of the Equality Unit (EqU). 

The EqU is one of the five units which constitutes the Centre for Student Counselling and Development (CSCD) within the Division of Student Affairs (DSAf) at Stellenbosch University (SU).

The EqU, formerly known as the Institutional HIV Office was established in December 2015.

 

We are responsible for the promotion of collective action towards social justice and discourse regarding social asymmetries at the University. We deal with all aspects of unfair discrimination, harassment, sexualities and gender-based violence. Discrimination may include but is not limited to racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia or ableism.

Furthermore, we oversee the implementation of SU’s two policies on HIV / Aids and Unfair Discrimination and Harassment.
